Winterization
If you live in an area that experiences freezing temeratures during the Winter months it is imperative that you prepare your fountains or water features for the cold. Fountain Works can help ensure that your water feature survives the Winter and is ready to be made operational in the Spring.
Spring Start-up
Spring startups include reconnecting all of the plumbing lines, charging the waterfill system, a basic cleaning of the fountain, checking all of the electrical and system components, refilling the fountain, adding chemicals and starting the fountain to ensure proper operation.
Monthly Maintenance
Monthly fountain maintenance helps ensure that your fountain is operating at peak efficiency throughout the year and mitigates the possibility of critical systems failure; it also ensures that your water feature continues to add value to your property.
Quarterly Maintenance

What Does A Typical Maintenance Visit Entail?

Our goal is to ensure that your water feature adds value and enjoyment to your property while operating at peak efficiency. Our maintenance programs are dedicated toward this end. We do it all, with uniformed and knowledgable fountain technicians equipped with the latest tools and technology.
A clean fountain is an efficient fountain and the first step in any fountain maintenance call is to remove all trash, leaves, twigs and other debris from your fountain's basins and bowls. We then vacuum the bottoms of the basins to remove silt, dirt and saturated leaves and debris, followed by a thorough brushing of the basin walls. We remove and clean all baskets and inline strainers and, if necessary, we will drain your fountain and pressure wash all surfaces.
Equipment maintenance is essential to ensure proper opertion of your fountain. We check check and correct any loose connections, kinks, leaks, cracks or bulges in piping/tubing and ensure that all systems (pumps, filtration, lighting, etc.) are working in "AUTO" mode.
Ensuring that lights and light fixtures are clean and free of algae helps extend bulb and fixture life. Testing of pump motor windings gives us advance notice of pending pump failure and testing of timer function helps ensure correct hours of operation. If yours is a floating fountain we will check mooring lines to mitigate drift.
We test water chemistry to ensure proper Ph levels and if yours is an interactive fountain we ensure that the water quality meets or exceeds governmental standards. Green water is treated with a sanitizing agent and brown water is drained and replenished.
Most fountains are equipped with fail-safes to mitigate any damages due to system failures. We test all fail-safe nmechanisms to ensure proper operation and make corrections where applicable
Adjust water flow as necessary to prevent splash and assure adequate filtration turnover rate. Test discharge and filtration system PSI and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimun flow rates and ensure that auto-fill mechanisms are working properly.
Check that all lights, photocells, GFIs, and power supplies are operational and correct any loose connections and verify pump power controls (i.e. outlet, time clock, CPU, contactors, etc.)are working properly. Check that the voltage to each pump is within 10% of the pump’s rating per the nameplate and verify that the amp draw on each operating pump is within 10% of the thermal overload rating/settings.
